Welcome to Solution Exchange (SE), a bilingual knowledge sharing tool designed to connect development practitioners and professionals to learn and interact with one another in a virtual forum spanning Indonesia and the world. SE promotes the voluntary sharing of experiences and expertise, highlighting best practices and lessons learned to contribute to sustainable and progressive development practices. By opening lines of communication, SE encourages development practitioners from all perspectives to work together to identify successes, and create innovative and well-rounded solutions by building on one another’s knowledge and experience; furthering efficiency by avoiding “reinventing the ‘development’ wheel”.
Solution Exchange houses seven Communities of Practice (CoPs), sector specific forums drawn out from existing groups of practitioners but identified and cultivated into CoPs to cooperate within their fields. Links to detailed information on each CoP can be found through the pages on the right. The Solution Exchange CoPs are: - Disaster Management and Risk Reduction
- Economic Development
- Education
- Gender
- Governance
- Health and Nutrition
- Housing and Infrastructure
The primary function of SE is to engage with “burning issues” which confront the members of each CoP in their day to day work and experiences. The Solution Exchange offers four services: Query-Consolidated Reply, E-discussion, E-consultation, and Action Groups; though the primary service is Query-Consolidated Reply. Through the moderated Query- Consolidated Reply service, the members problem solve together, bringing their queries to the forum for input from their peers and colleagues. The process is completely community driven, and allows expertise to be utilized and “institutional” memory to be developed whilst at the same time implementing real time solutions to a range of problems.
Solution Exchange harnesses the power of passionate and dedicated people and believes that ‘expert’ knowledge and ‘tacit’ knowledge are equally important. We encourage everyone concerned with the recovery and development of Indonesia to contribute, including, but not exclusively; - National and local government officials
- International and local NGO and CSO workers
- UN or Intergovernmental organizations
- Foundation, research, academic or policy institutes
- Private sector entrepreneurs and consultants
- Donors
- Bilateral or multi-lateral organizations
- Activists
- Interested community members with any level of proficiency within the development fields.
